Constitution

Surrey Youth Focus is a registered charity that was established over 20 years ago.
A new and revised Constitution was adopted in October 2008 and approved by the Charity Commissioners.
The underlying aim was to position Surrey Youth Focus to link more closely to the Government agenda in Aiming High Youth Matters, whereby increased collaboration is sought between the voluntary, statutory and private sectors. Surrey Youth Focus remains firmly rooted in the voluntary sector and as a membership organisation, but with links to statutory sector partners and to the private sector.
The principal changes were:
- To change our name to 'Surrey Youth Focus' with effect from April 2009.
- To enable Trustees to be elected for a three year term (as opposed to annually)
- To put a greater emphasis on a brokerage role for Surrey Youth Focus - bridging between our members as suppliers of services and those requiring them.
- Enabling Trustees to define new categories of members - likely to be patrons, partners (in the public sector) and associates (in the private sector).
- Allowing Surrey Youth Focus to operate across county borders, and to merge or enter into partnership with another organisation to deliver a particular project.
