Our Members
Surrey Youth Focus is a voluntary sector organisation that has been in existence for over 20 years, and is highly respected in the county. We are an umbrella or membership organisation that exists to support our members.
We currently have 77 member organisations, including Surrey Guides, Surrey Scouts, Boys Brigade, Urban Saints, and YMCAs. One way of looking at our members is to say they divide between organisations providing positive activities for young people, and those providing support to young people.
Our Members Survey of 2008 showed that in an average week our members' work with 25,000 young people and 75,000 young people every year.
Categories of Membership
Surrey Youth Focus has three categories of membership, reflecting the Government’s recommendation that there should be closer collaborative working between the three sectors: public, private and voluntary. Surrey Youth Focus has its roots in the voluntary sector, and so full membership is confined to charities working with young people.
However, we also welcome public sector organisations as Partners, and also private sector companies working with young people, or providing particular resources and equipment or training.
- Members- Voluntary sector: Current members include Surrey Scouts and Guides, the three YMCAS, Army cadets, Surrey Care Trust, charities working with young people with disabilities, and supporting young people in need. Full membership including voting rights. The Benefits of membership are here.
- Partners- Public sector: statutory sector partners – who have these benefits here, but not voting rights.
- Associates – Private sector: the benefits are described here, again excluding voting rights.
