Surrey Youth Small Grants Programme

In the light of ongoing budgetary cuts, Surrey County Council have taken the difficult decision to discontinue the Youth Small Grants programme.

Surrey issued the following statement.

Surrey County Council is facing significant financial challenges in 2015-16. The budget for Services for Young People is being reduced by £1.9 million (11%), alongside a further loss of income of £0.6m. As part of these changes the Youth Small Grants programme is being discontinued and unfortunately no further grants will be available in 2015-16. This follows the reduction in budget and the need to focus resources on areas which have the greatest impact on young people’s employability in Surrey.

We would like to thank Surrey Youth Focus for their work administering the scheme over the last two years and all the youth organisations who have worked to enhance the lives of young people through the scheme'.

Over 12,000 young people are benefiting from work supported by Surrey Youth Small Grants in 2013-14.  See the great work groups have been doing. Give Young Producers have a great report view it here.
