Lunch Club Volunteers

Eikon’s vision is to develop happy, thriving and resilient young adults who make a positive contribution to society throughout their lives.

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.

We are looking for Lunch Club volunteers to help at the lunch clubs in Schools across Surrey.

We are especially looking for keen gardeners to help with our Wednesday Lunch Club at Fullbrook School.

Key areas of responsibility for role are:

  • Engage young people voluntarily and positively; motivate, inspire and encourage potential
  • Listen and support young people, showing empathy and understanding, remaining non-judgmental and caring
  • Role model confidence, honesty, integrity, commitment and sensitivity to young people
  • Ensure that all youth work is delivered in accordance with the youth work curriculum and all relevant policies and guidelines

 Time commitment: 2 hours per week.

Bus Driver

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations. 

We have a mobile Youth Centre - a Youth Centre in a bus! The bus travels around Surrey supporting our youth work activities.

Do you have experience of driving a bus or large vehicle?

We need a volunteer to collect the bus, drive it to its location, and then return it back to base at Eikon, Selsdon Road, New Haw. 

Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week.

Bus Manager

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.

We have a mobile Youth Centre - a Youth Centre in a bus! The bus travels around Surrey supporting our youth work activities.

We urgently need a volunteer to manage and look after the bus. This will include making sure that regular checks are completed and communicating when and where the bus is needed. Reliable and friendly, experience of driving a bus is desirable but not essential. 

Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week.

Sports Coach

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.

We are looking for volunteers to join the team at youth clubs across Surrey, including Weybridge, Walton, Bagshot, Camberley and Deepcut.

LOVE SPORT?  Want to pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to young people. We are looking for volunteers to provide various doorstep sports sessions across Surrey.  Experience of teaching group sport is desirable but training will be provided to the right candidates.

Time commitment: 2 hours per week.

Youth Club Assistant

We are looking for volunteers to join the team at youth clubs across Surrey.

Key areas of responsibility for role are:

1:2:1 Mentors

Eikon’s vision is to develop happy, thriving and resilient young adults who make a positive contribution to society throughout their lives.

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.

We are looking for volunteers to join their successful mentoring scheme currently running in Surrey Heath.

Volunteer mentors offer support and form a positive one to one relationship with the young person who may be experiencing difficulties or who may want to make changes in their lives.

Mentors are matched with young people referred by schools or social services who are dealing with issues such as unstable family lives, low self- esteem, self- harming or anxieties over the their studies. They meet in school or a public place for an hour a week to talk about these issues.

Mentors should be able to volunteer for a minimum of two hours per week. Full training is provided. We are keen to hear from people from all ages and backgrounds.

Admin Volunteer

We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.

We are looking for admin support, based at our offices, Selsdon Road, New Haw, including:

  • Answering telephone and email queries
  • Producing and sending letters
  • Maintaining databases and data entry
  • General administration work including filing and laminating

Time commitment: 3-4 hours per week.

Volunteer Community Events Fundraiser

About Eikon:

Young people are under intense pressure and many are struggling to cope.  There is relentless pressure to have the perfect body and lifestyle; 24 hour social media pressure; the ever-present threat of cyber-bullying and overwhelming pressure to achieve at school.  These pressures result in anxiety, depression, social isolation, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, poor behaviour and poor attendance at school.  There is little support available – many mental health services are overwhelmed.  Eikon’s vision is to develop happy, thriving and resilient young adults who make a positive contribution to society throughout their lives. We provide timely support to young people in Surrey facing tough situations.  We have an excellent reputation and a proven track record built with key partners since our formation in 1995.

Eikon’s staff and volunteers are easily accessed through schools, youth clubs and youth centres and out in the community.  We currently work particularly in six Surrey Boroughs:  Elmbridge, Guildford, Runnymede, Surrey Heath, Waverley and Woking.

Role Title:                     

Community Fundraiser (volunteer)

Hours: By agreement – two hours each week minimum suggested 

Location: By agreement – within your own area / Borough

Key relationships: Community Fundraising Volunteer Team leader; the Eikon Fundraising Team; Head of Borough; local youth service staff and volunteers

Other relationships: Trustees involved with fund-raising

Purpose

To help Eikon to transform young people’s lives by raising income and support from the local community, through events such as barn dances, cake sales, quiz nights, music recitals etc.  You will:

  • Suggest and promote ideas to help raise funds
  • Organise events and activities to raise money (with others)
  • Help to find other people to volunteer with you in the local community to raise funds
  • Be an ambassador and advocate for The Eikon Charity in local community networks, building relationships with local groups, societies, businesses, faith organisations
  • Encourage and welcome new supporters for Eikon, who may be prepared to donate regularly

  • Some knowledge of local community networks and how to access them

  • Some computer skills, including the ability to research online and develop contacts
  • Able to keep careful records
  • Confident and careful with handling cash
  • Interested in trying out new ideas
  • Enjoy solving problems
  • Enjoy managing your own workload and setting your own deadlines

We will provide a fund-raising pack to guide you through the process, plus other training and support (some online).

Purpose

To help Eikon to transform young people’s lives by working with local Community Events Fundraisers (volunteers), to raise income and support from local communities.   A key member of the Eikon Fundraising Team, you will support fundraising volunteers across Surrey, who raise vital funds through organising events (for example, barn dances, quiz nights, cake sales, music recitals etc.)  You will:

  • Support and encourage Community Events Fundraisers in their local communities, acting as a focal point at Eikon for these volunteers and assisting with their induction, training and development
  • Provide Community Events Fundraising volunteers with advice and information to help them plan events and activities, including helping to ensure that they follow relevant policies and guidelines (set out in Eikon’s Community Fundraising Pack)
  • Help to recruit new Community Events Fundraising volunteers in different areas, from different backgrounds
  • Maintain a database of events and activities
  • Keep financial records from fundraising events in accordance with Eikon policy
  • Liaise with other Eikon staff and volunteers, who deliver frontline services to young people, and finance and HQ fundraising staff
  • Be an ambassador and advocate for the Eikon charity
