Volunteering is at the heart of the experience of the voluntary, community and faith sector. The encouragement of volunteering is a national priority.
The new coalition Government has initiated a programme called 'The Big Society' a plan of social responsibility and community action.

Volunteering as a national priority was reflected in the Labour Government’s creation of a National Indicators for Volunteering (NI 7), and Encouraging Young people to participate in Positive Activities, including volunteering (NI 110). The practical application of this policy was to set up a national volunteering programme for 16-25 year olds.
In Surrey this role is undertaken by SurreyVinvolved (formerly Millenium Volunteers) who are based at the YMCA at Redhill but also have offices at the YMCAs in Guildford, and Woking.
Vinvolved has the challenging task of finding some 8,000 volunteering opportunities for young people over the three years to 2011. To achieve this they need offers of appropriate volunteering placements, and young people to volunteer.
There’s loads more information on their website – www.surreyvinvolved.org. or email to info@surreyvinvolved.org or phone 01737 784970 (Redhill).
The staff and Trustees of Surrey Youth Focus are passionate about working to help young people in Surrey.
If you can demonstrate the same commitment, then do join us in the knowledge that whether as paid staff, or as a volunteer you are doing something really worthwhile, and learning and developing your own skills.
